How did we come out?<\/p>\n<p>Well, some good, some bad, but what\u00a0blew us away was, holy cow! Are a lot of Canadians paying too much for their Internet or what!<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a quick summary: The\u00a0CRTC Broadband report breaks\u00a0the data\u00a0down to four broadband Internet categories\u00a0based on\u00a0download speed.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Level 1 &#8211;\u00a0\u00a03 Mbps or less<\/li>\n<li>Level 2 &#8211;\u00a04 to 15 Mbps<\/li>\n<li>Level 3 &#8211; 16 to 40 Mbps<\/li>\n<li>Level 4 &#8211;\u00a0over 40 Mbps.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On average\u00a0Canadians in 2013\u00a0a saw in increase of\u00a0broadband Internet prices of\u00a029%, 8%, 5% and 4%, respectively. Why\u00a0Level 1 prices increased so much is because so few providers even\u00a0offer\u00a0services at or below 3 Mbps. Worldline doesn&#8217;t.\u00a0If someone qualifies below 6 Mbps we don&#8217;t sign them up simply because they will think their Internet sucks, and they&#8217;d be correct.<\/p>\n<p>Internationally\u00a0how did we do? The CRTC reports that\u00a0Canadian broadband Internet service prices generally compare favourably with the other surveyed countries \u00a0&#8211; but it depends what service you have.<\/p>\n<p>Lower-speed Level 1 and 2 broadband service were pretty good. However, in the case of the average higher-speed Level 3 and Level 4 baskets, Canadian prices are higher than those in the surveyed countries included in the study, with the exception of the U.S. &#8211; who are getting robbed even worse than we are:<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1974\" src=\"http:\/\/www.worldline.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/CRTC.png\" alt=\"CRTC Broadband report\" width=\"893\" height=\"198\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.worldline.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/CRTC.png 893w, https:\/\/www.worldline.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/CRTC-300x66.png 300w, https:\/\/www.worldline.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/CRTC-500x110.png 500w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 893px) 100vw, 893px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>How does Worldline compare?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-773 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.worldline.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/wl_save_internet-150x300.png\" alt=\"wl_save_internet\" width=\"150\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.worldline.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/wl_save_internet-150x300.png 150w, https:\/\/www.worldline.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/wl_save_internet.png 252w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/>We don&#8217;t offer Level 1, but\u00a0our level 2 service\u00a0isn&#8217;t $55.10 with a 20GB\/month data cap. Our Level 2 DSL service is\u00a0<strong>$29.95<\/strong>, and\u00a0it&#8217;s unlimited. Our level 3 isn&#8217;t $68.60 with a 50Gb\/month cap. It&#8217;s <strong>$39.95<\/strong>, and it&#8217;s also unlimited. Level 4 averages $86.46 with a 75Gb\/month cap across Canada. Worldline&#8217;s 50 Mbps DSL is unlimited and is <strong>$59.95\/month<\/strong>. That&#8217;s a $360\/year savings\u00a0not even including what these folks are getting dinged for their data.<\/p>\n<p>And remember, those inflated prices are just the <em>averages<\/em>\u00a0that\u00a0have been brought down by providers like Worldline.\u00a0Canadians are paying too much for their Internet, and they simply don&#8217;t have to.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s what Worldline is all about.
