Not only is it\u00a0annoying and adds to the already far too complex\u00a0process of switching, but it looks like a cash grab.<\/p>\n<p>The CRTC, after listening to the Canadian public agree.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"text combinedtext parbase section\" style=\"color: #000000; padding-left: 30px;\">\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">From the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestar.com\/business\/2014\/11\/06\/crtc_bans_30day_wait_to_cancel_cable_internet_phone.html\">Toronto Star<\/a>: Canadians should have an easier time cancelling their [phone and Internet] starting early next year.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The Canadian Radio and Television Commission (CRTC) has announced a decision that consumers will no longer have to give advance notice if they want to switch television, Internet or phone service providers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"text combinedtext parbase section\" style=\"color: #000000; padding-left: 30px;\">\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">This is the first decision to come out of the CRTC\u2019s Let\u2019s Talk TV: A Conversation with Canadians hearings on the future of television that were held earlier this year. It decrees that consumers will no longer have to give 30 days\u2019 notice if they want to cancel a service.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"text combinedtext parbase section\" style=\"color: #000000; padding-left: 30px;\">\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The order goes into effect on Jan. 23, 2015. It\u2019s hoped the move will allow consumers to better take advantage of a competitive marketplace.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"text combinedtext parbase section\" style=\"color: #000000; padding-left: 30px;\">\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The 30-day cancellation provision was a source of many consumer complaints.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>We here at Worldline couldn&#8217;t be happier- and for a couple of reasons. First, it will make switching to us far easier, which is will allow\u00a0far more Canadians to take advantage of the superior products and the service we can provide, while saving them hundreds of dollars along the way.\u00a0And also a customers old\u00a0ISP will no longer have that 30-day\u00a0window\u00a0to try to convince\u00a0customers out of switching.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-773 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.worldline.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/wl_save_internet.png\" alt=\"DSL\" width=\"252\" height=\"504\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.worldline.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/wl_save_internet.png 252w, https:\/\/www.worldline.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/wl_save_internet-150x300.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 252px) 100vw, 252px\" \/>The Big Three ISP&#8217;s\u00a0have whole floors of people\u00a0dedicated to their &#8220;Win Back&#8221; strategy. I&#8217;m sure you&#8217;ve experienced their tactics like the\u00a0price matching or special promo\u00a0right? It turns out that those discounts\u00a0are usually short-term so you end\u00a0up spending as much overall\u00a0\u00a0as you would have anyway. Or the promo comes with you purchasing yet another product in order to save.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless of their tactics, the sad truth is, in many cases, they work. We lose a significant number of newly signed up\u00a0customers to their old ISP because they were talked out of it.<\/p>\n<p>Not any longer.
