They are leaving in droves heavily impacting all facets of Big Telco&#8217;s business.<\/p>\n<p>Just yesterday Rogers released its numbers and they suffered a 17 per cent drop in first-quarter income.<\/p>\n<h2>From reports from the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thestar.com\/business\/tech_news\/2015\/04\/20\/rogers-profits-drop-17-per-cent-amidst-fierce-competition.html\"><strong>Toronto Star<\/strong> <\/a>and <a href=\"http:\/\/ca.reuters.com\/article\/businessNews\/idCAKBN0NB2CP20150420\"><strong>Reuters<\/strong><\/a>:<\/h2>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">The profit decline follows a regulator\u2019s ruling that ended 30-day notice periods before cancellation of telecom service contracts, a change that lowered cable revenue by $3 million.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">Rogers also lost 41,000 cable-TV subscribers, 7,000 Internet customers and 20,000 landline telephone lines in the first quarter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px;\">It said much of that slip was caused by the elimination of a 30-day waiting period before TV, Internet and landline phone contracts could be canceled.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldline.ca\/blog\/change-in-the-30-day-cancellation-rule-and-you\/\"><strong>CRTC first announced their plan<\/strong><\/a> to eliminate the 30-day waiting period for cancellation of a service\u00a0late last year, and if the first quarter of ruling&#8217;s implementation is any indicator, it&#8217;s something Canadians have truly embraced. No longer are they faced with\u00a0\u201cWin Back\u201d strategies that offered\u00a0price matching or special promos;\u00a0discounts that were\u00a0usually short-term so Canadians\u00a0ended up spending just as much or more overall as they\u00a0would have anyway prior to the &#8220;deal.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-773 size-medium\" src=\"http:\/\/www.worldline.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/wl_save_internet-150x300.png\" alt=\"Worldline Unlimited Internet\" width=\"150\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.worldline.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/wl_save_internet-150x300.png 150w, https:\/\/www.worldline.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/05\/wl_save_internet.png 252w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 150px) 100vw, 150px\" \/>Now Canadian ISP&#8217;s have only one way to keep their customers: Offer a great service at a fair price and earn the trust of the consumer.
