Anytime you login to an account, your powerful password manager will suggest passwords that\u00a0need to be updated. February tech challenge complete!<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">If you haven\u2019t yet found a password manager, then we have to ask: What are you waiting for?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Passwords need to be updated periodically, especially any\u00a0that have been involved in a data breach, are repeated across different accounts, or are too weak. A password manager will alert you to any passwords that fit those criteria. If you don\u2019t have a password manager, then you\u2019ll have to manually\u00a0update each of your passwords\u00a0across your different devices and browsers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">For example, if you have an iPhone, go to Settings, Passwords, Security Recommendations. Make sure \u201cDetect Compromised Passwords\u201d is switched on so you can see a list of passwords which need to be updated.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Google Chrome and Safari both have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.popsci.com\/chrome-safari-password-tools\/\">password safety checks<\/a>,\u00a0although as <a href=\"https:\/\/nordpass.com\/blog\/view-edit-delete-saved-passwords-safari\/\">this article<\/a>\u00a0explains, storing passwords in your browser isn&#8217;t the safest\u00a0idea as anyone who has access to your device can access your passwords.<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><b>How to Generate Strong Passwords<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Coming up with good passwords is tricky. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ubergizmo.com\/how-to\/create-strong-password\/\">This excellent article<\/a> is a fun read (with great graphics), and\u00a0does a superb job of explaining why password length matters and how to generate strong passwords. As the article points out, there\u2019s a misconception that a strong password is one that is difficult to remember. But just because you can\u2019t remember it, doesn\u2019t mean it\u2019s hard to guess. Fortunately a good password manager will suggest strong passwords for you.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">At the VERY least, please update your highest priority account passwords, like your banking and investment apps and email accounts.
